Winner of PKU fellowship competition 2012
Dr Priscila Nicolao Mazzola (Departamento de Bioquímica, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil) was awarded the 2012 PKU Academy Fellowship at the 4th EPG Symposium in Rome (Italy). One year on, at the 5th EPG Symposium in Istanbul (Turkey) she presented the preliminary results of her project ‘To verify the effects of acute and regular exercise on substrate utilization, oxidative stress and hormone levels in adult PKU patients.’
Dr Mazzola presented her final results at the 2014 PKU Annual Meeting.
Her project involved two PKU centers, one in Brazil and one in the Netherlands, where she studied the effects of exercise in PKU.
