  • Phenylketonuria (PKU)

The PKU Academy in collaboration with EXCEMED has developed a public competition for the award of a fellowship in the field of phenylketonuria (PKU). The fellowship is given to one young graduate in medicine, specialised or specialising in metabolic disorders, or to scientists or dietitians, with at least one year experience in the PKU field. It supports planned research projects aims to broaden the experience he/she has already acquired and documented in the field of PKU.

The winner of the 2013 fellowship is Professor Patricia Fernanda Schuck, Laboratory for the Inborn Errors of Metabolism, Univeridade do Extremo Sul Catarinense Criciúma  (UNESC), Santa Caterina, SC, Brazil.

Winner of PKU fellowship competition 2012

Dr Priscila Nicolao Mazzola (Departamento de Bioquímica, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil) was awarded the 2012 PKU Academy Fellowship at the 4th EPG Symposium in Rome (Italy).
