University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) has provided a service to Adults with PKU since 2007. Sarah Boocock explains that some patients struggle with dietary adherence, clinic attendance and sending in regular blood spots. She says that the biggest presenting challenge is older adults who ceased their low phenylalanine diet when younger and regularly try and often fail to re-start their diet.She emphasises the importantce of continuting to try to attract and motivate patients lost to followup and off diet, to engage and attend clinic annually for review.
