Basic knowledge of MRI imaging is an essential skill for all neurologists involved in multiple sclerosis (MS) management, namely for the purposes of diagnosis, exclusion of MS mimickers and for monitoring the course of the disease. In the near future, quantification of white and grey matter structural damage will be required in clinical practice in order to stage MS at the individual patient’s level and to monitor treatment efficacy. The accessibility of easy-to-use software for post-processing imaging makes it possible to apply quantitative MRI analysis research to clinical practice. On the occasion of our practice teaching course on MRI in MS, held at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, attendees had the opportunity to challenge themselves with post-processing imaging analysis and test their knowledge through hands-on training sessions.
