Luteal phase support is one of the most empirical phases of infertility treatment. Basically, there is little understanding about how the luteal phase may differ in a stimulated cycle vs a natural cycle. It is not clear if luteal phase support is needed in all type of treatments from insemination to IVF, beyond those where no ovarian function is present such as egg donation. The most recent evidence will be presented to conclude with a practical protocol for different infertility treatments.
