Professor Joan Figueras MD, PhD, ESA, AFC (hon) is specialist in surgery of cancer of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts. He was responsible of the Liver Transplant Program of the Bellvitge Hospital in Barcelona during 15 years. After that, he led the Unit of Surgery of cancer of the liver, pancreas and bile ducts in the Department of Digestive Surgery of "Dr. Josep Trueta" Hospital in Girona. From 2015 Dr. Figueras, is consultant of surgery of tumors hepato-biliary and pancreas in “Sagrat Cor” Hospital of the University of Barcelona. With 38 years of professional commitment in surgery of hepato-biliary-pancreatic tumors. It is accepted internationally as one of the opinion leaders in surgery of liver metastasis of colon cancer, pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and surgery of cancers of the gallbladder and the bile ducts. Dr. Figueras is Doctor of Medicine at the University in Barcelona and honorary professor of the School of Medicine of the University of Barcelona since 1979, with a trajectory of 35 years of teaching, has made four training periods in accredited foreign universities.
