Horacio M. Domené (PhD) is coordinator of the Molecular Biology Lab at the Centro de Investigaciones Endocrinológicas “Dr. César Bergadá” (CEDIE-CONICET), Hospital de Niños, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated as Biochemist from the University of Buenos Aires and earned his PhD degree from the same University. He was fellow of CONICET under the direction of Dr. César Bergadá, and completed a fellowship in molecular biology as a Fogarty Fellow in the Developmental Endocrinology Branch, NICHD, under the supervision of Dr. Fernando Cassorla and in the Diabetes Branch, NIDDK, under Dr. Derek LeRoith at NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA. His research focused in the molecular diagnosis of thyroid diseases and alterations of growth. In the last years he has been mostly involved in the characterization of genetic defects in the GH-IGF axis, resulting in post receptor GH insensitivity such as STAT-5b, STAT-3 and ALS deficiencies.
