The nurse’s role in MS has evolved rapidly in recent years due to the emergence of integrated care in MS and advances in symptomatic and disease modifying treatments. Nurses  are  key  members  of  the  multidisciplinary  team  of  healthcare professionals  involved  in  MS  management,  providing  individualised educational, clinical and emotional assistance to MS patients and their care-givers. Consequently MS nurses need to be be highly specialised.

This live educational workshop will be tailored to the specific educational needs  of  MS  nurses,  focusing  on  the  role  of  the  MS  nurse  in  the organisation of MS centres and clinical trials, on first and second line treatment management, and on MS complications handling. 

The 16th EXCEMED CNE MS nurse international workshop will be held the day before the opening of ECTRIMS. It enjoys a strong reputation within the MS nurse community.

Learning objectives

By attending this live educational workshop learners will be able to:

  • Summarise the role of the MS nurse  both in a highly specialised MS centre and out of the hospital 
  • List the main strategies for improving DMTs adherence
  • Describe the monitoring needs specific to each second line treatment 
  • Explain   how   to   manage   motor,   cognitive   and   genito-urinary   MS   complications throughout all the disease stages
